BETA RULES
We’re testing Mokena Garage Sale with a small group of invited adult Mokena residents. Marketplace listings are visible only to approved beta members.
Who can be here
- I am 18 or older.
- Normal membership requires Mokena residency and owner approval. If you move out, tell the owner.
- During Closed Beta, the owner may specifically invite temporary testers who live elsewhere. That access ends when Closed Beta mode ends and does not verify residency.
- Invitations are single-use, tied to one email address, and expire after 14 days.
- Only approved members can browse marketplace listings.
How we sell to each other
- Describe the item honestly, and use your own photos of the actual item.
- Price it yourself. Offers and counteroffers happen right on the listing.
- Pickup is local and between neighbors. The site does not handle payment and does not ship anything.
- Keep messages about the item you are buying or selling, and share exact pickup details only when you are ready.
- Mark an item sold, or take the listing down, once it is gone.
If something feels off
- Use Report on a listing or deal to send a concern to the owner for review.
- The owner can pause or remove access, and can take a listing down. Those decisions are recorded in an audit log.
- Meet in a way you are comfortable with, and trust your own judgment.
Invitations and owner review limit who can join. They are not identity verification or a background check, and they do not guarantee another member or an item. Use the same good sense you would at any garage sale.
